USPS Simple integrates the US postal domestic service as a new shipping method in WooCommerce. The plugin retrieves real-time rates through the USPS API.

By default, the plugin individually calculates the shipping price for each item in the cart, simulating separate shipments. The total price displayed to the customer is the sum of the individual item prices.

For regular-sized items, there is an option to group them based on their weight. If this feature is enabled, the dimensions of the grouped items are disregarded in the calculation.

To ensure compatibility, please set the WooCommerce currency to the US dollar and ensure that the base country is the USA.

USPS Simple supports the following services:

First-Class Mail
USPS Ground Advantage
Media Mail
Library Mail

USPS WebTools API retirement — 25 January 2026

USPS Simple calculates online shipping rates using the USPS WebTools API, which will be shut down on 25 January 2026. For more information, please refer to the official announcement on usps.com.

Starting on the date, USPS Simple will stop providing Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, and Retail Ground options to your customers.

First-Class Mail, Ground Advantage, Media Mail, and Library Mail will switch to retail rates, but will otherwise continue working as usual.

No actions required if you don’t use commercial rates, Priority Mail, or Retail Ground. Otherwise, please consider replacing them with custom shipping rules (see Weight Based Shipping or Tree Table Rate Shipping), using a custom code snippet, or switching to a different plugin that provides live USPS rates.

Installacion

Upload the plugin folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > USPS Simple to configure the plugin.

Functional and quick alternative to people who don’t want to pay very inflated subscription prices for the official WooCommerce USPS shipping plugin. Enable the « commercial » rates setting for the in-store rates. Bravo Dan!

The price my customers were charged by the plugin is not the same price that is charged went I take the item to the United States postal service office which has caused me to lose money. The most recent item purchased by a customer at my store, the plugin added $47.65 for shipping but then went I actually brought the item to the nearest USPS, I was charged $112.00 for shipping (and my measurements and weight input using Woocommerce were accurate). That was very upsetting!

When I enable the USPS Simple shipping method from woocommerce shipping settings the site stopped working. Please suggest.

It’s nice when things are simple, but can be frustrating when too simple. This plugin is great for stores that sell products that all ship in the same basic class, ie, priority, first class, and there isn’t a mix of restricted class items like media or library rate items. There is no way to select a single or range of shipping method/rate per class. For example, media mail is a restricted class limited to only certain items, like books or DVDs, but if you also sell cameras or t-shirts, you can’t restrict those products from being offered media mail as a shipping option – and a customer will choose that rate because it’s the lowest, and it will be an invalid shipping method for that product. The only option for media mail items, if you have mixed products in your store, is to disable media mail as a shipping option altogether. This is a disservice to customers and to store owners who would prefer this method for qualified products. I don’t know how difficult it would be to add that capability. This is a very easy plugin to set up and for stores with simple inventory and only shipping in the U.S. I think it would work wonders. But, if you have a store with a mix of product types, this one may not work for you.
