Reached out to the author who replied almost immediately and resolved the problem in 2 days.
Works well with multiple categories.

Installing the plugin made my whole site go 500 error. I couldn't even turn it off, because of the said error. I had to resort to Wordpress.com support to get rid of the plugin so my site would go back up.
