Manage WordPress Themes and Plugins with UptimeMonster

The Uptime Monster Monitor plugin is based on UptimeMonster app service. Our monitoring service provides features such as installing, activating, deactivating, and uninstalling any themes or plugins for specific WordPress site. Therefore, users will perform these actions from the app instead of the WordPress dashboard.

Installacion

Automatic installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option — WordPress handles the file transfer, and you won’t need to leave your web browser.

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard
  2. Navigate to the Plugins menu, and click “Add New.”
  3. In the search field type “UptimeMonster Site Monitor” then click “Search Plugins.” Once you’ve found us, you can view details about it such as the point release, rating, and description. Most importantly of course, you can install it by! Click “Install Now,” and WordPress will take it from there.
  4. Activate the plugin.
  5. Go to UptimeMonster “Dashboard » Websites » YourWordPressSite » WordPress Tab”
  6. On your WordPress admin dashboard goto “Settings » UptimeMonster Settings”
  7. Copy and paste API key & secret from UptimeMonster WordPress tab to plugin settings fields.
  8. Save settings.

Manual installation

  1. Download this plugin’s .zip file and extract it.
  2. Upload the extracted directory (uptimemonster-site-monitor) to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory on your web server with your favourite ftp/sftp client.
  3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
  4. Go to UptimeMonster “Dashboard » Websites » YourWordPressSite » WordPress Tab”
  5. On your WordPress admin dashboard goto “Settings » UptimeMonster Settings”
  6. Copy and paste API key & secret from UptimeMonster WordPress tab to plugin settings fields.
  7. Save settings.

No, this plugin does not interfere with WordPress core functionality or the installation, update, or uninstallation of plugins
and themes. It allows you to manage plugins, themes, and core updates directly from the UptimeMonster dashboard. The plugin
registers a REST API endpoint that enables these management features without disrupting standard WordPress operations.

How secure are the REST API endpoints?

Our REST API endpoints are secured using HMAC (Hash-based Message Authentication Code) with SHA-256 encryption. This method
ensures that each request is authenticated with a unique, tamper-proof signature, providing robust protection against unauthorized access and data tampering.

What activities are logged by this plugin?

This plugin monitors and logs the following activities for review in the UptimeMonster dashboard:

  • Post operations (create, update, delete, restore) for all custom post types, including comments, menus, and taxonomies/terms

What data gets logged?

This plugin logs various activities (see previous faq) from
your WordPress site and sends them as logs, including:

  • Activity/action type (e.g., create, update, delete, install, uninstall)
  • Object data (e.g., post/option/plugin/theme name, ID, status, post type)
  • Timestamp of the activity
  • Actor data (e.g., name/ID of the user, IP address, UserAgent, language)
  • Miscellaneous information (e.g., WordPress version, site language)

Does it logs errors?

Yes, this plugin logs PHP errors. It installs an error handler drop-in (fatal-error-handler.php)
to capture and log errors. You can view these errors in the UptimeMonster Dashboard under Websites > Website Details > WordPress
tab. The logs include detailed actor data (see previous faq).

Can I export logs?

We are currently working on this feature. If you need to export logs for analysis before the feature is available, please
contact our customer support team, and they will assist you.

Do I need a subscription to use the plugin?

Yes, an active subscription is required to use this plugin. The Starter package is free
and provides basic features. For advanced features, please explore our premium packages.

Where can I suggest a new feature or report a bug?

You can suggest new features or report bugs through the WordPress support forum.

How will I get notification if my site has any problems?

You will receive alerts through email and push notifications (with WhatsApp and SMS notifications coming soon), depending on your subscription package.
